Guest Post: six LA Coffee Spots to Try

I spend a lot of time in LA, but rarely do I get the chance to get out and explore beyond the bubble of Santa Monica (#nodriverslisenceprobz). So today, I’m teaming up with one of my favorite people to follow along with on Instagram: Zach of Dreams over Drinks. I mean seriously, Dreams over Drinks & Musings over Mochas? Sounds like a match made in coffee/story telling heaven!  Anyways, Zach merges two of my favorite things (coffee & connection), so I know you will love him and what he does. Since he travels to a plethora of LA coffee shops, I figured he was the perfect person to collaborate with to bring you a guide to coffee in the city of Angels.

Let’s get to it…

Hi everyone! My name is Zach and I have a blog called Dreams Over Drinks where I like to have meaningful conversations with people and share their stories over drinks! Since starting my blog and moving back to LA after college, I’ve been exploring interesting coffee shops and meeting new people every day! My favorite coffee shops have a special quality. I look for places with a warm and friendly environment that inspires interaction and good conversation. Good coffee is also a plus! Big thanks to Musings Over Mochas for having me contribute and I’m excited to share some of my favorite Los Angeles spots with you all!

// Wheelhouse Coffee

Address: 1375 E 6th St #6, Los Angeles, CA 90013 (Downtown)

Vibe: “Airy, industrial-chic space housing a full-service bike store, service department & cafe.

Wheelhouse Coffee is a bike/coffee lover’s paradise. It’s kind of tucked away in Downtown, but once you find it, you won’t want to leave. Great coffee and friendly place to talk everything bicycle related.

// G&B Coffee

Address: C-19, 317 S Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90013 (Downtown)

Vibe: “Relaxed wraparound counter dispensing sophisticated coffee & tea creations & pastries.

For really good coffee and food, check out Grand Central Market in Downtown. The metro line drops you off right in front, so you can’t miss it. G&B Coffee is considered one of the best in all of LA and it’s in the heart of a bustling downtown market. It’s always busy, but if you are looking for a one of a kind coffee experience, this is the spot. I definitely recommend trying the ‘Business and Pleasure.’

// Verve

Address: 833 S Spring St, Los Angeles, CA 90014 (Downtown + other locations)

Vibe: “NorCal-originated chain known for its coffee offers an outdoor patio & home brewing materials.

Verve is another Downtown favorite. In the midst of busy traffic and grey cement streets, this shop is a total escape. With beautiful outdoor seating and inviting communal tables inside, this is a perfect place to hang out or meet up with someone.

// Bondi Harvest

Address: 1814 Berkeley St, Santa Monica, CA 90404 (Santa Monica)

Vibe: “Aussie-inspired breakfast & lunch cafe with acai bowls, organic sandwiches, burgers, juices & more.

If you’re looking for the best latte and avocado toast combo, Bondi Harvest is the way to go. It’s a small shop in Santa Monica with sweet Australian surf vibes!

// Menotti’s Coffee Stop

Address: 56 Windward Ave, Venice, CA 90291 (Venice)

Vibe: “This hip outpost for coffee & light eats features artsy, funky decor & an old-school vibe.

Menotti’s Coffee Stop in Venice is my favorite way to start the day. The coffee is amazing and the barista’s there are incredibly friendly. The head barista’s name is Nicely, so you know this place has good vibes!

// TOMS Flagship Store

Address: 1344 Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice, CA 90291 (Venice/Abbot Kinney)

Vibe: “Rustic, offbeat flagship shop & cafe selling relaxed footwear, glasses, coffee, juice & baked goods.

The TOMS Flagship Store on Abbot Kinney, Venice checks all the boxes. The coffee is great, they have an awesome backyard hang out/workspace and every purchase goes to help people in need. I always feel relaxed and productive here and the positive vibes always put me in a good mood!

Other notable stores: Intelligentsia, Blue Bottle Coffee, Deus Ex Machina & Dinosaur Coffee

If you want to keep up with my coffee adventures as well as all the people and interesting stories I share, follow my Instagram, Twitter and blog! It was a pleasure contributing and let me know which of these becomes your favorite!
